Would you recognize a heart attack if it happened to you?

There are many subtle signs that a heart attack is coming aside from the notorious chest pain. And, according to a recent study in the Netherlands, those signs are being missed. More than 40 percent of heart attacks go undetected, researchers say - and they’re much more commonly overlooked in women than men.

A 2003 National Institutes of Health study found unusual fatigue, severe sleep disturbances and mild to sever shortness of breath, indigestion and anxiety topped the list of women’s warning signs. Chest pain, a leading heart attack symptom for men, was not as prevalent for women. Rather, women described the symptoms more as aching, tightness or pressure
