Bread basket

Is sprouted-grain bread any healthier than the regular whole-grain variety?

Unlike regular bread, sprouted kinds are not made with flour, instead, manufacturers soak wheat berries, barley and other grains in water before baking. As a result, the bread may have a lower glycemic index (a measure of how fast blood sugar rises after eating) and be a little higher in protein, thiamin and riboflavin than its whole-grain counterparts. The bottom – both are healthy for you and the more nutritious than white bread, so choose for yourself.
