Americans battling diabetes, that is good news. In a study published in Diabetes Care, an American Diabetes Association journal, 99 participants were randomly assigned to either a low fat vegan diet or one following ADA guidelines. After 22 weeks, dieters on the vegan plan lost almost twice as much weight as the other group. And 43 percent of the vegan group reduced their dependence on diabetes medications while only 26 percent of the dieters using the ADA
